(5/2/2012) 'THE DOGG' IS AUSTRALIA BOUND

The club would like to wish Richard Murray the best of luck as he takes a year off to go travelling in Australia. Ricky Dogg will be joined by partner Mary Hughes and her brother John so we wish all 3 a safe journey and have a terrific time. We will see you all in 2013 and keep safe.. Happy travels..

(2/2/2012) ===Breaking News ==== Senior Ulster Hurling League Match OFF

Portaferry Senior Hurlers first match of 2012 season in the ulster League -v- St.Pauls scheduled for Sat 4th Feb has been CALLED OFF due to the condition of the Portaferry Pitch. As it stands the surface is not fit to withstand a match and with the expectant bad weather scheduled between now and Saturday the pitch will not get any better.

Seamus Manning will be playing music in the park this Saturday night 4th Feb from 9 til late. Everyone welcome and free admission.

U16 & Minor hurlers meeting will take place on Friday 3rd Feb in the clubhouse at 7.30pm sharp. Anyone who cannot attend please contact sean young.

Rules



1.    Full Rules (Catching, Striking from hand, hand passing etc all permitted)


2.    No Soloing, tap on hurl permitted


3.    Keeper cant score from a puckout


4.    Goals only


5.    Whoever is fouled hits free


6.    Games are 7 minutes straight through (no half time turn around)


7.    5 players per team


8.    All players can go everywhere on the pitch


9.    No Goalkeeper jerseys to be worn

10.    Quick touch ball to be used at each venue in each game (Club’s to supply their own)

Cost: £50 per person

Down GAA will be running a Level 1 Child Football / Hurling Coaching Course in St John's GAC on the 24/25th February and 2/3rd March 2012.

Course Breakdown:
Friday 24th Feb: 7-10pm
Saturday 25th Feb: 9.30am - 5pm
Friday 2nd Feb: 7-10pm
Saturday 3rd March: 9.30 - 5pm

This course is open to coaches of players aged 6-12 years.

Candidates must have completed a GAA Child Protection Course and also a Foundation Football / Hurling Award (at least one year in advance).

Places on this course are limited to 24.

To apply for a registration form for this course please email developmentmanager.down@gaa.ie

Registration forms and full payment must be received no later than Friday 17th February. Applications WILL NOT be accepted after this date.

(10/1/2012) Portaferry Camogie Training continues every Wednesday...

Continues every Wednesday in St Columbas Gym commencing at 7pm sharp!! and costs £2. This is open to senior and junior camogs but also if anyone wants to go along for a workout will be welcome. It will consist of circuit training and is a great way to shed the gained christmas lbs. The circuits are tough and if you work hard you will achieve results. The circuits have been designed by athlete Besicka Inabin. See you all there.

Could you give your club 30 mins one night per week to go out and collect the envelopes for the lotto. If you could help in any way please speak to Vincent Mason or Paudraig Braniff and assist them with the lotto weekly draw.


(10/1/2012) FUNDAMENTALS RECOMMENCES SAT 21ST JAN

fundamentals will re-start on Sat the 21st Jan @ 1.30pm for P1-P3s & 3.00pm for P4-P7s.
in the Portaferry Sports Centre
Session 1 will be between 1.30 pm - 2.30 pm for P1 to P3’s
Session 2 will be between 3.00 pm - 4.00 pm for P4 to P7’s
Bring your own stick/helmet & water bottle, otherwise
equipment will be provided.
All new members very welcome.

Cost £2 per session per child.
